Our Sweet Sweet Jaquell...

As many of you may know, my cousin Jaquell who has the brain tumor, found out last Thursday that her kemo treatments were no longer doing any good! So the next step was to remove it. The doctors said on a risk scale from 1-10, 10 being the most dangerous her surgery was a 9. What a scary thing for a 14 year old little girl (little to me) to go through. They set the date for today, Friday the 10th.
As the week went on, of course you have so many thoughts running through your mind and cant help but think, "what if she doesn't make it?" So you begin to prepare yourself for the worst. Thursday evening our cousin Trever, whom recently returned from his mission wanted to give her a blessing. So he did so, the family met, and prepared for the hospital the next morning. We arrived around 11 am so we could see her before she went in.
My sister Mandee made a little book for everyone to write a little message for her so she could read them and always know how much we love her. As the book was passed around I glanced at the tag that her sister Jazzi wrote, it said," Jaquell I love you so much and you are my best friend! Love Jazzi" My eyes teared up and right then I looked up and the two were hugging. I couldn't help but to shed a few tears.
As I looked around at the family who was there to support her and her family, I realized how great our family really is. My two aunts from Washington and Montana flew in, lots took work off, and we had nearly 35 people waiting in the waiting room for her to come out.
After 7 hours of being in surgery we got the news.... everyone was quiet as we waited..... they got it! They removed the tumor successfully. She did very well, but she still has to go through a round of radiation to make sure they got the last of it. What a great example she has been to me and our family for being so strong and courageous and never giving up.
I would like to thank those of you who kept her in your thoughts and prayers through all of this, and for the awesome support from family and friends. It has meant so much to the family and really appreciated. Oh what a happy day for our sweet sweet Jaquell.

I'm so happy to hear her surgery went well. We recently had a similar experience with my little cousin Tristan, who has had heart problems ever since he was little. We all were fearing that we might never see him again since they had to take him into emergency surgery a month ago, and just another example of a miracle... the doctor completely changed his plan of action the night before this big heart surgery and completely fixed my little cousins heart. It's amazing what prayers can do for the doctors who are helping these little kids, and what strong kids these two are. I'm so glad everything went well with Jaquell!
